Interesting Facts
"WooW" Torrontes Sweet is a natural sweet white wine made from Torrontes grapes grown in the company's vineyards in San Rafael, Mendoza region. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 600-800 meters above sea level. A noticeable difference in day and night temperatures contributes to a balanced and uniform ripening of grapes. In the vineyards, sandy-clay soil prevails , full of alluvial deposits, rich in calcium and organic material. The continental climate with gentle breezes dominates here. The heavy snow from the mountain range guarantees a large flow of clean water for irrigation of the vineyards. All these factors contribute to the harvest of exceptional quality. Harvested by hand when the berries reach optimum ripeness. At the winery, berries undergo temperature-controlled fermentation in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine is not aged, but immediately bottled to maintain freshness and fruitiness. The result is a perfectly balanced, sweet fruity wine with a touch of natural sourness. Fine wine as an aperitif, and goes well with fish dishes and seafood.
"WooW" Torrontes Sweet was awarded a gold medal at the Prodexpo exhibition in 2019.
Producer's description
Bodegas Bianchi is a family-owned winery with a rich heritage and tradition that has brought a lot of innovation to the Argentinean wine industry. Situated in a historic location in San Rafael and the Uco Valley, Mendoza Province, Bianchi Winery is a generic Argentine winery renowned worldwide for its still and sparkling wines. Currently, Bodegas Bianchi is a global brand, represented in more than 40 countries and representing the values and quality of Argentinean wines around the world.
Valentin Bianchi, the founder of the company, was born in Italy in 1887. In 1910, when he was only 23 years old, a brave young man left his small town Fasano and went to Argentina. Being a well-educated person, a professional teacher with perfect calligraphy and strong enthusiasm, Don Valentine began to plan his life path in this part of the world. In 1928, after many years of hard work, he was able to fulfill his main dream: to have his own vineyard and open a winery called El Chiche, which literally means "a small winery of great wines." Don Valentine's indefatigable vocation to make the best wines in the country has never faded. He imported European vines and adapted them to the climatic and orographic conditions prevailing in the San Rafael region. As a result, he gradually erected the famous winery, whose name will be the true heritage of Argentina - Bodegas Bianchi.
The family business was continued by Don Valentin's son, Enzo Bianchi, who not only followed his father’s vision, but also established another fundamental pillar for the further successful development of the winery: a constant search for innovation and the best quality for its wines. Bold and ambitious, with unconventional views, he became the creator of avant-garde red and white wines that set fashion trends in Argentinean winemaking. In addition, it was don Enzo who attracted not only his children, but also cousins, to the business, leading them so that they could continue to work together after he left. His courageous spirit and generous devotion to family affairs made Don Enzo at his 70s travel to California and Europe with his children to see how great world experts make wines. In 1995, he founded the revolutionary sparkling wine winery (champanera), which in a few years turned San Rafael into a tourist center. Currently, this innovative winery is visited by more than 85,000 tourists a year.
Three children of Don Enzo - Valentin, Raul and Sylvia, together with their cousins Stradellah continued the family wine dynasty, producing high-quality wines that have received international recognition. Today, Bodegas Bianchi is a winery with more than 90 years of history, woven by four generations of the Bianchi family, who continue to pass on the values of their ancestors unchanged from generation to generation.
