Volcanes, "Reserva" Pinot Noir - elegant red dry wine from the same grape variety grown in the Maipo Valley on mineral volcanic soils in cool climatic conditions. The sharp changes in day and night temperatures contribute to the perfect ripening of grapes, achieving an excellent level of acidity and optimal freshness. The berries are picked by hand, partially crushed, the wort passes cold maceration for two days to extract maximum color, aromatic and taste characteristics. Subsequently, the wine is fermented for a week, followed by aging in barrels of French and American oak for 6-7 months.
The goal of the company Bodega Volcanes is to create an original and inimitable wine, with the maximum reflection of the unique minerality of each plot where grapes grow. Chile has more than 2,900 volcanoes, and the Bodega Volcanes vineyards are located in different valleys across the country with deeper sub-soils rich in volcanic inclusions that help the vines to withstand high temperatures, retain more moisture and provide them with excellent drainage. For the company, such a "volcanic" character is an attribute that adds to the wines of brightness and wealth, greater complexity in taste and aroma. The philosophy of Bodega Volcanes is to make wines that fully display the terroir and demonstrate the purity of grapes without excessive use of oak barrels for aging.
The vineyard Rapel, which occupies 25 hectares of land, is located in the province of Kachapoal about 40 km from Rengo. Its soils are loamy, with a good content of silt, clay and rocky rocks, which are mostly volcanic. Here the company grows the following grape varieties: Grenache, Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Syrah. Near the vineyard are located the volcanoes of San Jose and Tingviririka.
Vineyard Maule, located on 33 hectares of land, located 400 km south of Santiago and east of the coastal mountain range. Its topography is formed by the tectonic movement of the Nazca and South American lithospheric plates. The soils here are formed by a magmatic arc, which is more than 300 million years old. Magma, exposed to cold temperatures, turned into granite, which over time more and more began to be exposed on the surface of the soil. The soil of the vineyard - red granite with a high content of iron. Here, the company grows the following grape varieties: Syrah, Carignan, Grenache, Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon and Murverd.
