Tasting Notes
The wine has a deep red color with a purple hue.
The wine has a juicy, very pleasant and drinkable, but at the same time a rather complex and deep taste with lively acidity, smooth, polished tannins and a long, fruity aftertaste.
The wine has a fresh aroma with hints of red fruits, blackberries and wild berries, complemented by notes of smoke and licorice, subtle balsamic nuances.
The wine will be an ideal addition to pasta, cold meats, cold cuts and stews, pizza, sheep's cheeses.
Interesting Facts
"Pago de Valdoneje" Mencia - a bright red dry wine from the Mencia grape variety, which is grown in the old 85-year-old vineyards in Bierzo. The yield of old vines ranges from 3000 to 3500 kg / ha. The vines grow on clay soils with separate areas of sand and ferruginous substrate. Harvested by hand in 15 kg boxes. At the winery, the grapes are carefully sorted. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place in stainless steel tanks under strict temperature control. During fermentation, the temperature is kept below 28 ° C. Before bottling, which took place in April 2020, the wine is filtered with diatomaceous earth. Vintage 2019 will reveal its full potential in 2020-2022.

Calm is the word that immediately comes to mind when you visit Valtuilla de Abajo. However, getting to know this town better, you realize that everything is not as simple as it seems, that life and living energy are seething inside every house. In one of these houses lives the García Alba family, whose head, Dimas García Canedo, founded Vinos Valtuille in 1999. Today the family company is already run by the children of Dimas, Elena and Marcos. The family-owned Vinos Valtuille winery is a reflection of García Alba's values handed down from generation to generation. Respect and concern for the land are the guiding principles of their work. Marcos is responsible for the 15 hectares of vineyards and wine production, using the wisdom and advice that his grandfather Antonio gave him many years ago. Marcos personifies that famous calmness of Valtuilier, and Elena is a hidden energy, she is always looking for a way to develop, do things better and, thus, achieve a better future. The balance between the two fundamental traits of the managerial character forms the reality of Vinos Valtuilier.
