Reviews of purchase Vina del Pedregal, "Origen" Assemblage II, 2017
Tasting Notes
The wine has a deep ruby red color with a violet hue.
The wine has a generous, rich, rounded taste with fruity and spicy accents, perfectly balanced acidity, silky texture, soft tannins and a surprisingly long, persistent aftertaste with nuances of caramel toffee.
In the intense aroma of wine, like a symphony, notes of ripe red fruits, violet flowers, vanilla and toasted almonds are harmoniously intertwined.
The wine goes well with red meat and poultry, pasta, pizza and mature cheeses.
Interesting Facts
The "Origen" line consists of three wines, the blend of which can truly be called unique. Consider, for example, a combination of Carmenere, Merlot and Nebbiolo in one wine, or a blend in which Syrah, Malbec and Sangiovese are woven together. The label of all "Origen" wines is decorated with an image of a giant old tree that grew here long before the first of the Pedregal family set foot on this land.
"Origen" Assemblage I - concentrated, energetic, but elegant red dry wine with a bright aroma and expressive taste. For its creation, the grapes of the Syrah, Malbec and Sangiovese varieties, grown in the Loncomiglia valley, are used. Harvesting is carried out when the berries reach the optimum level of ripeness. At the winery, the fruits undergo vinification, which takes place under the close supervision of winemakers at every stage of production. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (50% new). It is recommended to decant at least one hour before use.
Producer's description
Vina del Pedregal is a family winery founded in 1825 by Carlos Adolfo del Pedregal, a native of Spanish Asturias. He became one of the first to grow French grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon), brought from Bordeaux in Chile.
The company's vineyards are located in the Loncomiglia Valley in the foothills of the Andes and boast a good variety of soils for complex and deep wines.
Today the company is run by the eighth generation of the family - the head of the family, Alberto del Pedregal Aldunate and his son, Jose Manu el Pedregal Labe. 98% of products are exported to more than 50 countries around the world. Over the nearly 200-year history of the company, wines produced by experienced winemakers of the family have managed to gain recognition and respect in international markets. High quality has been repeatedly confirmed by awards and medals received at prestigious competitions.
