Reviews of purchase Vina Chocalan, Syrah Reserva, 2016
The wine has a rich purple color.
The taste of the wine is dense, concentrated, sweetish, balanced, with smooth tannins and a strong spicy aftertaste.
The aroma of wine clearly traced notes of violet, dark chocolate, dark berries and spices.
The wine goes well with dishes from legumes, meat dishes (especially with lamb and game), vegetarian curries and cheeses.
Vina Chocalan, Syrah Reserva is a vivid example when, through a characteristic and individual wine, the creators try to convey the richness of the terroir in which they grow grapes. This wine carries all the characteristics of true Chilean wines. Syrah grapes are harvested in the first half of May. Vinification includes maceration at 8 ºC for 8 days and alcoholic fermentation at 26-28 ºC in stainless steel tanks. After the end of fermentation, the wine is settled from 8 to 10 days, then poured into oak barrels, where it is aged for 10-12 months. Long-term exposure significantly softens tannins and makes the wine very harmonious.
Viña Chokalan, Sira Reserva has repeatedly won prestigious awards. Vintage 2014 won the Gold Outstanding medal at IWSC-2015, as well as the gold medal at Gilbert Gaillard, 2015 and silver at the 11th AWOCA-2014.
Vina Chocalan is a family business. It was founded by Guillermo Toro, who was associated with the wine industry for more than 60 years. Being a very enthusiastic winemaker, Guillermo created a project for the production of wines, combining two of his strongest passions: grapes and wine. The name of the winery - "Chocalan" - translates as "yellow buds."
The first harvest of grapes was received in 2001, and the next year the construction of a wine cellar in the Melipilly area began. Today Viña Ciocalán is recognized as one of Chile's leading companies producing high-quality red and white wines.
The mission of Viña Ciocalán is to produce the wines of the New World, which will be recognized at the national and international level.
