Wine Terras Gauda, "Pittacum Aurea", Bierzo DO, 2012
Reviews of purchase Terras Gauda, "Pittacum Aurea", Bierzo DO, 2012
Wine rich ruby color.
The balanced, generous and fresh taste of the wine is full of notes of ripe cherries, currant and raspberry berry touches, spices and tannic accents. The finish is long, silky and deep.
The elegant aroma of the wine from the first seconds of tasting reveals notes of red fruit, cherry and currant, pure mint nuances. Gradually, they add strokes of wet earth and wet stone. Beautiful, multi-faceted bouquet.
Wine will be a good complement to dishes of lamb, steak, stew, grilled meat.
Terras Gauda, "Pittacum Aurea" - dry red wine from the varieties Mencia grown in the Spanish region of Bierzo. The vineyard, whose age reaches hundreds of years, gives amazing in its qualities grapes grown in a biodynamic way. After harvest, clusters in small boxes of 12 kg are delivered to the winery. Vinification is carried out in stainless steel tanks. A 20-day maceration makes it possible to extract color, aroma and tannin from the skin as much as possible in order to transfer their future wine. Malolactic fermentation begins in the spring and takes place in oak barrels, where the wine is aged for 14 months. After bottling the wine is aged in bottles for another two years.
Winery "Terras Gouda" was founded in 1990 in the town of As Eyras in the famous wine region Rias Baixas. Her vineyards spread in the picturesque valley of Rosal, near the mouth of the River Minot. An exceptional microclimate with moderate temperatures, no frosts, and abundant rainfall is ideal for ripening high-quality grapes with high sugar content and balanced acidity levels, unlike other northern, Rias Baixas regions with a more variable climate. "Terras Gouda" grows 85% of the berries for its wines in its own vineyards, the rest is acquired under strict quality control from other local producers. The winery owns about 80 hectares of vineyards, divided between varieties Albarino (70%), Loureiro (15%), Cainho blanc (10%) and Treyschadura (5%). "Terras Gouda" specializes in white wines, but at present the farm has an experimental plantation for red grapes.
