Wine Tenuta di Fessina, "a'Puddara" Etna DOC, 2013
Reviews of purchase Tenuta di Fessina, "a'Puddara" Etna DOC, 2013
The color of the wine is pale straw with a greenish tinge.
The wine has a fresh, elegant taste with rich tones of ripe fruit, harmonious acidity and a firm, pleasant aftertaste.
The generous, bright aroma of wine reveals beautiful fruit accents and strokes of dry herbs, tinted notes of silicon.
The wine is ideally combined with poultry dishes, light meat, fish dishes and seafood.
White dry wine Tenuta di Fessina, "a'Puddara" Etna DOC was created as a dedication to Sicily - the fertile island of the Mediterranean. In a literal translation, the name of the wine means "chicken", "hen", used here from the point of view of the mother, the patroness. This allegory is taken from Ovid's poem "Metamorphosis". As sailors and fishermen saw a sign pointing to the volcano behind which they were waiting for ready to feed the land, so today the wine of "a'Puddar" indicates the generosity of the vineyards of Tenut deFessin, endowed with wonderful, exquisite wines.
After harvesting, the berries are carefully selected and soft pressed. Fermentation and aging of wine is carried out in oak barrels. As a result, "a'Puddara" acquires a refined fruity taste and a fresh, expressive flavor.
In 2007, Sylvia Maestrelli and the oenologist, Federico Curtas, who worked for 20 years at Gaja, purchased vineyards in the Etna region. From this moment begins the story of Tenute di Fessina - a winemaking economy in Sicily, which supports the centuries-old traditions of winemaking that prevail in this region. On the territory of one of the vineyards after the acquisition, a symbolic echo of the past was found: an adaptation for pressing grapes dating from the 18th century. This finding strengthened the owners in their desire to glorify the region with quality wines and became a kind of "sign from above", blessing the development and the future success of the started business.
The heart of Tenuta di Fessina is at an altitude of 670 meters above sea level. The plots occupy an area of about 7 hectares, and the soil of the vineyards is rich in volcanic rocks, which provides the wines with the richness and complexity of the aroma, the elegant structure and the mineral taste. In addition to growing grapes and producing wine in the Tenute di Fessina, wine tourism is practiced. Wine connoisseurs and travelers have an excellent opportunity not only to taste the best wines of the farm, but also to enjoy a stay in the picturesque area of Sicily, to see with their own eyes the majestic volcano of Etna and enjoy the silence in the ancient estate alone with nature.
