Wine Tenuta di Fessina, "Musmeci" Bianco Superiore, Etna DOC, 2013
Reviews of purchase Tenuta di Fessina, "Musmeci" Bianco Superiore, Etna DOC, 2013
The wine is bright-yellow-straw color.
The taste of wine is rich, fresh and pure with expressive halftones of ripe fruit against a balanced acidity. Surprisingly long, pleasant aftertaste with minced minerals.
The bright, playful, rich aroma of wine is woven from tones of citrus fruits, the sound of which is shaded with nuances of spices and an elegant mineral train.
This wine will be an excellent addition for fish dishes, seafood and crustaceans. You can also serve vegetables and soft cheeses.
White dry "Musmeci" Bianco Superiore embodies "the freshness of long-term snows and the warmth of the highest volcano in Italy" (Mario Soldati). Bright expression of terrair Etna, the soil and microclimate of which is diverse, this wine shows a special, refined style, which combines elegance and depth. Its name was given in honor of Mr. Musmechi, who worked at the Tenuta di Fessina farm in the 1920s.
The wine is created from the Carricante variety, whose vines were planted in 1920. The berries are harvested by hand, subjecting to careful selection, and gently squeezed. The wort is fermented in oak barrels, which gives the future wine an expressive character and ensures a harmonious balance of acidity. Experts recommend to serve "Mumechee" Bianco Superiore to dishes of seafood, crustaceans and fish.
In 2007, Sylvia Maestrelli and the oenologist, Federico Curtas, who worked for 20 years at Gaja, purchased vineyards in the Etna region. From this moment begins the story of Tenute di Fessina - a winemaking economy in Sicily, which supports the centuries-old traditions of winemaking that prevail in this region. On the territory of one of the vineyards after the acquisition, a symbolic echo of the past was found: an adaptation for pressing grapes dating from the 18th century. This finding strengthened the owners in their desire to glorify the region with quality wines and became a kind of "sign from above", blessing the development and the future success of the started business.
The heart of Tenuta di Fessina is at an altitude of 670 meters above sea level. The plots occupy an area of about 7 hectares, and the soil of the vineyards is rich in volcanic rocks, which provides the wines with the richness and complexity of the aroma, the elegant structure and the mineral taste. In addition to growing grapes and producing wine in the Tenute di Fessina, wine tourism is practiced. Wine connoisseurs and travelers have an excellent opportunity not only to taste the best wines of the farm, but also to enjoy a stay in the picturesque area of Sicily, to see with their own eyes the majestic volcano of Etna and enjoy the silence in the ancient estate alone with nature.
