Wine Tenuta di Fessina, "Erse" Bianco, Etna DOC, 2016
Reviews of purchase Tenuta di Fessina, "Erse" Bianco, Etna DOC, 2016
The wine is shiny yellow-straw color.
The exquisite, mineral, refined taste of wine reveals a fresh fruit palette against a balanced acidity and enthralles a long, harmonious aftertaste with barely perceptible salty notes.
The wine has a delicate, delicate aroma, in which citrus (lime) tones predominate, as well as nuances of passion fruit and peach, supplemented with floral halftones. An elegant bouquet is generously decorated with accents of minerals.
The wine will best reveal its taste qualities in a pair with white meat, seafood, fried fish, as well as risotto, cheeses and vegetable purees.
"Erse" Bianco, Etna DOC is an example of a constant search for winemakers who want to create a truly high-quality product. White dry wine surprises with a fresh, clean, mineral taste, and also with an elegant style, like his "red" brother - Erce Rosso. Its name was given to the name of the Greek goddess of dew. Early in the morning, when the sun only touches the night clouds with its rays, dew forms on the berries - it was this magical moment that the creators of wine wanted to make key, imprinting it in the name.
"Erce" Bianco is created from the Carricante variety with the addition of the Minnell and Catarratto varieties cultivated in the Etna region. The proximity to the active volcano explains the content of volcanic rocks in the composition of the vineyard soils. And the wines created from the local varieties have exquisite minerality and refinement. After harvesting, the berries are subjected to delicate pressing and fermentation at a controlled temperature
(12-14 ° C).
In 2007, Sylvia Maestrelli and the oenologist, Federico Curtas, who worked for 20 years at Gaja, purchased vineyards in the Etna region. From this moment begins the story of Tenute di Fessina - a winemaking economy in Sicily, which supports the centuries-old traditions of winemaking that prevail in this region. On the territory of one of the vineyards after the acquisition, a symbolic echo of the past was found: an adaptation for pressing grapes dating from the 18th century. This finding strengthened the owners in their desire to glorify the region with quality wines and became a kind of "sign from above", blessing the development and the future success of the started business.
The heart of Tenuta di Fessina is at an altitude of 670 meters above sea level. The plots occupy an area of about 7 hectares, and the soil of the vineyards is rich in volcanic rocks, which provides the wines with the richness and complexity of the aroma, the elegant structure and the mineral taste. In addition to growing grapes and producing wine in the Tenute di Fessina, wine tourism is practiced. Wine connoisseurs and travelers have an excellent opportunity not only to taste the best wines of the farm, but also to enjoy a stay in the picturesque area of Sicily, to see with their own eyes the majestic volcano of Etna and enjoy the silence in the ancient estate alone with nature.
