Stiegelmar, St. Laurent "Apfelgrund" - an exquisite dry red wine made from St. Laurent grapes grown in the Apfelgrund vineyard. Soils with a high content of chalk and layers of gravel . The average age of the vines varies from 11 to 45 years. Productivity is specially reduced to produce higher quality grapes. Harvested by hand, then the berries are carefully sorted. The wort is subjected to classical fermentation in stainless steel tanks at strictly controlled temperatures. The wine is aged 12 months in small oak barrels. Wine perfectly complements dishes of poultry, veal, beef tartare.
The Stiegelmar winery is located on the Parndorf Plateau in the municipality of Gols, and was founded in 1956 by Johann and Theresa Stigelmar. Now the company is headed by the fourth generation of the Stigelmar family - Hans, Gerhard and Walter. The farm has 32 hectares of vineyards, where typical varieties of the highest quality are grown: Zweigelt, Blaufrankisch, St. Laurent, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Welschriesling, Muscat Ottonel, Grüner Veltliner, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The main goal of the company is to create unique wines, the production of which competently combines the centuries-old traditions of winemaking in the region and modern ideas and practices. Stiegelmar wines feature in that each vintage is different from the others and therefore unique. Soil, weather, climate, the number of hours of sunshine and many other factors determine the individuality of each crop. The company's mission is to capture precisely this uniqueness, which is why work in the vineyard is the foundation and cornerstone. Careful care of the vineyards throughout the year allows you to get in with a clear and bright varietal and terroir profile - clean, honest, restrained, in which the Gols style is unmistakably recognized. The winery produces about 250,000 bottles of wine per year.
