Reviews of purchase Sordo Giovanni, Barolo "Monvigliero" DOCG, 2012
The wine is ruby-red, with years prone to pomegranate.
The taste of the wine is balanced, with a pleasant freshness, velvety tannins, notes of dried berries, black currants, cherries, with a little bitterness and a long, long aftertaste.
The aroma of wine expresses great elegance and grace. It is filled with notes of violets and red berries, ethereal hues and tender spicy nuances.
The wine goes well with red meat, game, mushrooms and mature cheeses.
Elegant wine "Gioso" Barbaresco is produced in the northern part of Italy, in Piedmont. It is a monosortal and is made from Nebbiolo grapes. Barbaresco, which has a tart berry taste with tempting notes of dry earth and spices, can really hit the taste buds. In the production of wine, fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 30 ° C and natural apple-milk fermentation at 20 ° C. Then the wine is aged for at least 9 months in large Bulgarian oak barrels. After bottling "Giozo" Barbaresco ripens another 6 months. The wine has a good storage potential and reaches maturity only after 5-10 years.
The Sordo Giovanni winery is located in Barolo, in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto, just a few kilometers from Alba. This family winery is in the skillful hands of Giorgio Sordo, a representative of the third generation of the Sordo family, which has been producing wine for more than a century. The farm was founded in 1912 by Giuseppe Sordo, but the real development of the winery was due to Giovanni Sordo. He bought several vineyards with vines of Nebbiolo in the best places of the wine region of Barolo. The soil of these vineyards is rich in microelements, which, together with the unique microclimate of the Lange region, create the ideal environment for the cultivation of Nebbiolo. This energetic and complex grapes can give the wines an amazing aroma and a great potential for aging.
Today the Sordo family owns 53 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Castiglione Faletto, Serralunga d'Alba, Monforte d'Alba, Barolo, Novello, La Morra, Verduno, Grinzane Cavour and Vesa d'Alba. The Sordo winery is unique, it is the only existing winery that boasts 8 different species of Barolo.
