Grapes for wine Saint Clair Marlborough Pinot Noir grows in several sub-regions of Marlborough. It was collected only after it reaches optimum maturity. Winery harvested grapes were cold maceration for 4-5 days, this is done to get the most flavor and further saturated color consistency. The subsequent fermentation process involves adding specially selected natural yeast, and the necessary action is stirring the wort from 6 to 8 times a day. Company Saint Clair Family Estate was founded in 1978 by spouses Neal and Judy Ibbotson. At first, the couple sold the grapes to local wine company, and in 1994 started producing its own wine. The debut was highly successful - their wines have won numerous awards, among them the gold medal. Since then, the name of St. Clair represents excellent quality, and production has consistently win top awards at the most international competitions, including the prestigious «Air New Zealand Wine Awards».
