Reviews of purchase "Sagana", Sicilia IGT, 2012
The wine has a deep ruby-red.
The wine shows rich, flexible, rich and deep taste with silky tannins and lively acidity, firm structure, tones of plums and figs. The finish is long and smooth.
The aroma of wine is fresh and complex. Notes of blackberry, black cherry and plum infused with hints of dried grass clippings, dark nuances of spices and cocoa.
The wine goes well with dishes of meat, game and poultry, well complement the taste of risotto, paella, cold meats and cheeses.
Nero d'Avola grapes, winemakers companies Cusumano used when creating the wine "Sagana", is the most important and widely cultivated in Sicily. It occupies about 16% of the vineyards of the Mediterranean island. More than 2500 years Sicily is one of the most important centers of winemaking in Italy, and huge amounts of Nero d'Avola produced on the island each year for many centuries. This dark-skinned grape is of great value to local winemakers, as well as suitable for creating beautiful monosortovyh wines and for blending. It got its name from the name of the town of Avola, on the southeastern coast of the island. This area was the center of commerce of the local population in the Middle Ages, and Nero d'Avola wine makers often used the island to increase color saturation and wine, unlike wine, created on the Italian mainland.
Cusumano company was founded in 2001 by brothers Alberto and Diego Cusumano, representing the third generation of a family of winemakers. The company is constantly expanding, acquiring new vineyards. Today, the total area of holdings Cusumano is 390 hectares. This beautiful vineyards located in Sicily at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. In 2003, the company has converted Partinico structure of XIX century, which today made and kept excellent wines made not only from traditional local, but also grapes imported from other countries. The diversity of climate and soil throughout the sunny island allow winemakers to create a sensual wine with a rich flavor that might have been born in Sicily. Thanks to a deep knowledge of the territory of Sicily Cusumano brothers were under their vineyards precisely those areas where different varieties can reach their full potential.
