The vineyards are located on the southern slopes of Montalcino, in a hilly area, at an altitude of about 450 meters above sea level and extend over 540 hectares. This area is very favorable for its location. It is protected from the cold and weather events such as hurricanes or hail. Vineyards are not afraid of the fog, frost or late frosts, and the frequent presence of wind with the Tyrrhenian Sea provides the best conditions for the health of the vines. The climate is typically Mediterranean, with a limited amount of rainfall in the months of March, April, November, and December. A large number of sunny days throughout the growing season provides a gradual and complete ripening of the grapes. The special character of the soil, with a small amount of clay and limestone, gives individual structure and elegance of the wines of Montalcino.
