Reviews of purchase Rocca delle Macie, "Ser Gioveto", Toscana IGT, 2011
The wine has a deep ruby red color with garnet reflections.
Harmonious, juicy and fruity wine is underlined by noble tannins and light notes of spice and oak.
The aroma of wine - intense and persistent, with hints of red berries and jam. Light, sweetish nuances of spices and herbs give a bouquet of individuality.
The wine is suitable for dishes with thick, rich sauces, red meat, game, hard cheeses.
Red wine "Ser Gioveto" was conceived in 1985 by the founder of the winery Rocca delle Macie - Italo Zingarelli as a tribute to his youngest son, Sergio, who this year got together with his father at the helm of the winery. At the same time, this indicates the name of the wine archaic name of Sangiovese ("sangioveto"), who was elected as the primary grape in the blend of this wine. Besides him, the composition consists of 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, which are mixed with the noble Sangiovese, to create a wine with a strong structure and character. After fermentation, the wine first, from 9 to 14 months aged in French oak barrels and then another 9 months in bottles.
Young, but very dynamic and promising winery Rocca delle Macie was created in 1973 when Italo Zingarelli realized his dream and bought the estate "Le Macìe". The total area of the estate amounted to 85 hectares, but the vines grew by only two hectares. Italo skillfully took advantage of the circumstances and justified the winery in the heart of Chianti Classico. Being an avid supporter of winemaking, Zingarelli all my love and deep respect for the grapes and fertile Tuscan land conveyed to his sons Sergio and Fabio and his daughter Sandra. In 1985, Sergio, the younger son of Italo, personally led an international network of distribution of products, and in 1989 with the support of his wife Daniela was named president of the company. Together with his sister Sandra, he developed a long-term strategy of the company, which is based on improving the quality of products to promote the Rocca delle Macie, not only in Italy but also in the world. Older brother Sergio - Fabio became a successful architect and personally conducts restoration work in the province of Fizzano, as well as building a new wine cellar.
To date, Sergio Zingarelli and his wife Daniela successfully attached to the family business his children: for example, Andrea, ending soon College, accompanies his father on his trips abroad, and Julie is actively helping mothers in the estate. The total area of the estate Rocca delle Macie today is more than 600 hectares, 200 hectares of which are used for vineyards and 80 hectares planted with olive trees. All the farm is divided into 6 sections: Macìe, Sant 'Alfonso, Fizzano and le Tavolelle, which are in the area of Chianti Classico, as well as newly acquired Campomaccione and Casamaria zone Morellino di Scansano. Successful development of the company and the high quality of its products was preceded heavy and hard work in the vineyards of wine. It was necessary to strictly control the density of planting vines and the number of harvest, and if necessary, use "green" pruning, perform manual harvesting, maintaining strict protocols and recommendations of top wine experts. Special attention is also paid Sergio and wineries, improved and upgraded them with the latest technology. In 2002 began the construction of a new cellar for aging red wines selection.
Among Rocca delle Machie convinced that only high-quality and reliable products to the consumer need, and the simplicity and sincerity towards partners and customers is the key to success and prosperity, allowing to keep up with the stringent requirements of market volatility.
