Reviews of purchase Rivera, "Il Falcone" Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva DOCG, 2012
Wine dense garnet-red color.
The wine shows a rich, full, very stable and well-balanced taste.
A complex bouquet of wine sounds of red berries and ripe dark fruit, skin tones, tobacco and spices.
Due to the long barrel and bottle aging, the wine will be an excellent complement to rich dishes such as red meat with spicy herbs, roasts, game, meat under a rich sauce. Before serving the wine should be subjected to a minimum of half an hour decanting.
Red dry Italian wine Rivera, "Il Falcone" Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva DOCG - one of the most prestigious wines of Apulia. Wine is named after the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, Frederick II, who built the castle of Castel del Monte to satisfy the passion for falconry. Subsequently, it was the name of the castle that gave the name to the wine regions of the DOC and DOCG categories located nearby. Wine is made from carefully sorted berries collected from the oldest vines of the economy.
The blend consists of 70% of the autochthonous grape varieties Nero di Troia, to which 30% of the red grapes are added. The berries grow on deep lime-tuff soils plots whose height is 200 meters above sea level. Harvested by hand in the penultimate week of October. Maceration with frequent mixing of the wort and delagestam takes place in 120-liter steel tanks and lasts 15 days. Then the wine is divided into two equal parts and sent for a 14-month exposure. One half of the wine matures in 30-liter French oak barriques, the second half - in the same barrels, but with a volume of 225 liters. After bottling the wine is sent to the cool cellars of the winery for a year-long exposure, providing elegance and complexity of taste.
The family history of Corato originates in the agricultural traditions of Apulia. Here, in the countryside of Andria, Sebastiano de Corato founded the Rivera winery in the late 1940s. Sebastiano’s inspiration was the great potential of the Castel del Monte wine industry. He set himself the task of drawing the attention of the global wine industry to this generous land. Recognition came pretty quickly and soon the name of Rivera became the benchmark for the quality of Apulian wines. The winery gained fame primarily due to innovations in viticulture and the winemaking process introduced by Carlo, the son of Sebastiano.
Today, representatives of the third generation of the family of Corato, Sebastiano and Marco, proudly continue the work of their grandfather and father. They produce powerful but elegant wines of consistently consistent quality, created from local grape varieties, fully reflecting the beauty and strength of this land. The owners of the farm strictly adhere to the principles of the once taken wine-making philosophy. Each stage of wine production - vineyard management, harvesting, vinification, aging and bottling - is carried out under close supervision with the help of modern technologies and equipment. The methods of viticulture and enological practices that meet the most modern requirements are in perfect harmony with a deep respect for traditions, land and nature. All activities of Rivera are aimed at supporting the sustainable development of the region, the winery and the continuous improvement of the quality of products.
