Wine Porta del Vento, Catarratto, Terre Siciliane IGP, 2017
Reviews of purchase Porta del Vento, Catarratto, Terre Siciliane IGP, 2017
The wine is straw-yellow in color.
The taste of wine is stable, dense, even slightly creamy, with vigorous acidity. Toning and refreshing aftertaste ends with obvious brackish nuances.
The aroma of wine has a rare strength and amplitude. The notes of wild flowers, orange tree and chamomile flowers are surrounded by shades of citrus fruits, thyme and anise.
The wine is perfectly combined with spicy fish dishes, especially baked on the grill or in the oven.
Catarratto is an autochthonous Sicilian white grape variety, which has recently been able to prove itself in the world market. The lion's share of this success is due to the tireless work of producers who firmly believe in the potential of this variety. And Marco Sferlazzo, of course, is one of them. Porta del Vento, Catarratto immediately captivates with a strong and fascinating aroma, which can only be found in the wines of sunny Sicily.
Vineyards with vines of Qatarratto are located at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level, on sandy soils. Harvest is collected manually after strict selection, which limits the number of fruits, setting priorities for quality. Alcohol fermentation takes place in cement tanks, in which the wine remains for about 6 months.
The winery of Porta del Vento , owned by Marco Sferlazzo , is located in a beautiful valley in the province of Palermo. 10 hectares of the company's vineyards were planted between 1974 and 1984 along steep north-facing slopes to protect the vines from too much sunlight. The terrain is very windy, with large fluctuations in diurnal temperatures. To date, all vineyards have organic certificates. At the winery Marco Sferlazzo also adheres to the philosophy of non-interference in the natural process: the harmony and energy of the grapes are transferred to the wine, thus expressing the nature of the terroir. All without exception, the fault of Marco Sferlazzo is captivated from the first sip and ready to talk about the inimitable beauty of Sicily.
