Producer's description
In the early twentieth century, a highly experienced winemaker, Romano Pittaro, planted Merlot vines imported from France in 1880. His son, Angelo, built a modern winery in 1968. Initially, the company was called San Martino, but then it was renamed Pitars (this is what the surname of the founders sounds like in the local dialect).
Today the company is run by the fourth generation of the Pittaro family: Nicola, Stefano and Alessandro. Together with the rest of the family, they adhere to the traditional methods of winemaking, skillfully combining them with modern technology. The result of this painstaking work is high quality wines, highly appreciated by many wine critics.
