"Castillo de Almansa" - a wine list made from grapes grown on the unique vineyard "Finca los Timonares" at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level. The vineyard uses organic methods of vine cultivation.
"Castillo de Almansa" Tinto, Almansa DO - elegant wine from Garnacha Tintorera grape grown in the region of Almansa. Vineyards are located at an altitude of 700-800 meters above sea level on stony-limy soil, the age of the vines is 20-25 years. Harvest is harvested at night in the second half of September, when berries reach optimal ripeness. At the winery, the fruit is briefly macerated, followed by fermentation at low temperature for 15 days. Wine is recommended for use as an aperitif, as well as paired with red meat, game, stew, rice and risotto.
The Piqueras winery was founded in 1915 by the Piqueeras family. It is located in the region of Almansa in the south-east of Spain, 60 km from Alicante and the Mediterranean Sea. This wine-growing region is characterized by low yields due to the low amount of precipitation. Semi-arid continental climate allows to receive wines with rich color and aroma. Wines are usually made from local varieties of grapes - Garnacha Tintorora and Monastrel. In 1972 the brand "Castillo de Almansa" entered the market.
In 2001, the winery acquired the vineyard Finca los Timonares. In 2003, the opening of a new plant with an area of 7,000 sq.m. and a production capacity of 3,000,000 liters of wine.
Since 2010, the company is run by Pablo and Javier, the fourth generation of the Piqueas family. The main goal of the winemaking industry is the production of high-quality wines, which are represented in the markets of more than 40 countries of the world.
