Tasting Notes
Wine beautiful dark cherry color with purple trim around the edge of the glass.
"Petalos" - very expressive and tasty wine with a flexible texture, good acidity and polished tannins. It seduces fresh, intense, wonderfully balanced flavor with rich tones of fruits, flowers and spices. Long aftertaste marked nuances of minerals.
Intense bouquet of wine varietal characteristics reflects the variety Mencia. Abundant colors of ripe red and black fruit accompanied by fragrant floral notes, intonation minerals, toasted oak and underbrush.
Wine perfectly accentuate the taste of game birds with mushroom or berry sauce, beef stew with vegetables, lamb with thyme and mushroom carpaccio. It also serves to pate, lobster salad with grapefruit and soft goat cheese.
Interesting Facts
Initially, the company's founder, Alvaro Palacios was selling barriques of French oak, but he always dreamed of himself to create great wines that reflect the character to maximize his native Spain. In the late 1980s he was able to realize his dream into reality and became abandoned vineyards near GALLARDO. This was the first step on the road to success. Later Alvaro, together with his nephew Ricardo Perez - oenologist by training, has significantly expanded ownership by 100 small vineyards in the town of Bierzo. It is here that grow autochthonous grape variety Mencia, perfectly reflecting the characteristics of the terroir and gives the wine unique flavors and aromas. The first vintages created from Mensah showed that wine and Ricardo Alvarez expects starry future, as evidenced by today are high marks from respected wine critics such as Robert Parker and Stephen Tenzer.
All the wines of Descendientes de Jose Palacios (which translates as "Heirs Jose Palacios") are produced using biodynamic methods, aged in oak casks and not filtered, which means that you can be assured of their highest quality and environmental friendliness.
