Reviews of purchase "Petalos" del Bierzo DO, 2011
The wine is dark purple.
Ripe, balanced taste wine shows notes of raspberry and dark cherry, flexible texture, silky tannins and mineral nuances in the aftertaste.
In the rich aroma of wine infused hints of clove, violet, plum, licorice and smoky nuances.
The wine goes well with dishes like carpaccio with mushrooms, lamb with thyme, lobster salad with grapefruit and pates and soft goat cheese, for example, "Crottin de Chavignol".
Initially, the company's founder, Alvaro Palacios was selling barriques of French oak, but he always dreamed of himself to create great wines that reflect the character to maximize his native Spain. In the late 1980s he was able to realize his dream into reality and became abandoned vineyards near GALLARDO. This was the first step on the road to success. Later Alvaro, together with his nephew Ricardo Perez - oenologist by training, has significantly expanded ownership by 100 small vineyards in the town of Bierzo. It is here that grow autochthonous grape variety Mencia, perfectly reflecting the characteristics of the terroir and gives the wine unique flavors and aromas. The first vintages created from Mensah showed that wine and Ricardo Alvarez expects starry future, as evidenced by today are high marks from respected wine critics such as Robert Parker and Stephen Tenzer.
