Reviews of purchase Penfolds "Grange", 2005
Wine of deep, almost impenetrable dark garnet color.
Deep, complex flavor of the wine in the first place, it is emphasized notes of plum in the middle reveals hints of rhubarb, anise, fennel, chocolate liqueur. The finish is long, with sweet and sour fruit tones and strong tannins.
The aroma of wine at once mesmerizing tones dense colas, red and dark fruits combined with an array of sophisticated shades due to exposure - vanilla, oak and chocolate. Then taste explodes nuances of honey, bacon, peat and nutmeg. After decantation appear attractive tone volcanic earth and underbrush.
Wine matches perfectly with red meat, especially beef, as well as game and mature cheeses.
"Grunge" in 2005 - one of the most powerful, uncompromising vintages, perfectly balanced, with a very smooth, almost polished texture and hard core. The creators of "grunge", 2005 state that "the first sip of this wine welcomes second sip claims third asks to obey." Wine was created from a small crop, received this year from the Barossa Valley (88%) and from the Valley and McLaren Kunavorry. Weather conditions in 2005 were extremely favorable for the growth of vines. The crop was harvested early, two weeks earlier. Warm and dry weather prevailed during the harvest of grapes, berries were ripe, with exceptional taste and excellent structure. After fermentation, the wine is aged for eighteen months in new American oak barrels. The unique structure of the wine will help keep it more than a decade, the peak of the wine in the bottle will come in approximately 2020-2035 years.
