Reviews of purchase Orto Vins, Les Pujoles, Montsant DO, 2013
The color of the wine is dark red with a ruby hue.
The wine demonstrates a harmonious taste with fine-grained tannins, medium body and a beautiful palette of fruit shades. The finish is pleasant, long, with nuances of spices and mineral accents.
The wine has a balanced, rich aroma with expressive shades of ripe fruit, notes of currant and cherry, touches of pepper, cinnamon and notes of dried herbs. The bouquet is framed by elegant mineral lace.
Wine will be a good addition to dishes of red meat, fried duck, foie gras, mature cheeses.
Named after the Puyoles vineyard of the same name, dry red wine Orto Vins, Les Pujoles is created from Tempranillo. The site is over 120 years old and located in the Les Sorts area on gentle slopes with a southwestern orientation. The soils are mostly limestone, so the wine shows an exquisite minerality and freshness of taste. All grapes are grown in an organic way.
Vinification Ortho Vins, Puyoles Forest involves fermentation in large tanks and 28-day maceration. After pressing, the wine is sent to old oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation takes place, followed by aging for 12 months.
Ortho is the time when a star crosses the horizon and becomes visible in the sky, the time when a new day is born. And according to Greek etymology, “ortho” is a prefix meaning “right”, “beautiful”. So the owners of Orto Vins themselves interpret the name of their brainchild. The winery was created in 2008 by oenologist Juan Asens, who rallied the idea of creating exquisite wines of his three childhood friends. For almost 18 years, Juan has been engaged in viticulture in the famous Priorat winery - Alvaro Palacios. In addition, Asens was considered a “biodynamic guru” and worked at the University of Catalonia. The accumulated knowledge and invaluable experience allowed him to create a company that for ten years has been successfully competing in the market. Orto Vins wines are produced according to biodynamic principles, demonstrate softness and elegant tannin and, as a rule, low alcohol content.
