"Il Gruccione" is an exquisite dry white wine made from Turbiana grapes grown in the company's vineyards. This wine in the best way reflects the essence of the company and its understanding of Lugansk, starting with an irreplaceable pair of "soil-vine". Harvested after the berries reach the optimum level of ripeness manually in September, then they are carefully sorted and chopped without combing. Wine production is based on classic vinification. "Il Gruccione" is excellent as an aperitif, and will also complement fried fish, grilled fish, seafood, shellfish, salads, spicy Asian dishes.
Nunzio Ghiraldi Winery was founded in 1953. For Nuncio Giraldi, the choice to become a winemaker was determined by the desire to follow his natural inclinations: to live in the countryside and work on his land. It was his grandfather Nuncio, a process engineer, who bought the Podere Sant'Onorata farm in the countryside of Lugano Sirmione in the early 1950s. It was Lugana, still “naked”, but she had already made Nuncio Jr. dream. Nuncio intuitively felt that it was a suitable basis for the vines of the Turbiana variety (Trebbiano di Lugana), which he was going to plant and did so. Nunzio graduated from law in the footsteps of his father, but, inspired by the story of his grandfather, decided to continue his family business at the winery. So the vineyards became his life.
Built in the 18th century, Nunzio Ghiraldi Farmhouse is a rare example of architectural integrity on the land of Lugana. All equipment for the winery was designed to order. The winery has 20 hectares of vineyards, which apply only organic farming methods. The land is fertilized with bovine and horse manure coming from family farms. Pesticides are not used, only mechanical weeding is performed. The age of the vines ranges from 15 to 60 years. The magic of this place was respected, and today ancient and modern technologies coexist in harmony.
