Wine MonteMaggio, Chianti Classico DOCG is made from Sangiovese grapes with small patches of Merlot, which in 2007 amounted to only 3%. Vineyards farms are located at an altitude of 450 to 600 meters above sea level. Sangiovese is going in the second half of October, while the Merlot harvested in late September. Varieties vinified separately fermented and tested in stainless steel and concrete tanks for 18-25 days at a temperature of not higher than 28-30 ° C. Sangiovese is aged in Slovenian and French oak barrels in the volume of 32 hectoliters, and Merlot are placed in barrels recycling, which produces malolactic fermentation and where the wine is stored for the next 18-20 months.
The winery is located in the commune of Montemaggio Radda in Chianti, in the heart of Chianti Classico. The name "Montemadzhio" comes from "Monte Maggiore" ("Big Mountain") and indicates an elevated location area.
The winery is a member of the Consortium Montemadzhio Chianti Classico, its possessions stretched over an area of 70 hectares and includes vineyards, olive groves and forests. Vineyards, occupying 9 hectares in the center of the estate, mainly planted with Sangiovese with a small proportion of Merlot, Chardonnay and Punitello. In order to maintain the concept of creating high-quality wines, "Montemadzhio" using the following methods: high density planting vines at lower yields, organic methods of farming - the cultivation is carried out with the utmost respect for nature, using the minimum number of chemicals with hand harvesting. These methods, combined with excellent southern and south-western exposure, climate, soils and fine wine experience, is the best guarantee of quality wines from the "Montemadzhio."
