The history of the company Sazerac begins with a drink. Antoine Peixault, a Creole immigrant, in 1838, working in a pharmacy on Royal Street in the French Quarter, gathered his friends in the pharmacy late in the evening and interfered with cocktails of brandy and absinthe for them. After some time, in the middle of the XIX century a coffee bar was opened at the same place. The drink, mixed by the pharmacist, smoothly migrated to the menu of the restaurant "Sazerac" and began to be called as well as the bar. In 1869, Thomas H. Handy bought a coffee shop and began producing spirits under the Sazerak brand. From the 1890s, the company began bottling and selling cocktails in the country's markets, replacing brandy with rye whiskey in the recipe. Today, Sazerac is a family-owned company that owns a number of famous distilleries, such as Buffalo Trace Distillery, A. Smith Bowman, Glenmore Distillery, Barton, Fleischmann, Medley and Mr. Boston.
