Tasting Notes
Wine rich ruby color.
The silky taste of wine has sweet, delicate tannins. The subtle texture supports a bouquet of shades of plum, blackberry, black olive, licorice and balsamic. A spicy aftertaste leaves a sharp sourness at the finish.
The complex, elegant and concentrated aroma of the wine is persistent and harmonious between the shades of fruit and wood.
The wine goes well with dishes of chicken, grilled meat, prosciutto, beans, cannelloni with minced meat.
Interesting Facts
Palacio de Arganza, Cabernet Sauvignon-Mencia - concentrated wine, showing impressive grip and depth. Vineyards in the northwestern part of Spain are notable for their low height; harvesting takes place a month earlier than in the rest of the region. Fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature. The wine is aged 10 months in barrels of French and American oak, and then spends another 8 months in bottles.
Producer's description
For over 50 years, Palacio de Arganza wines have been a reference worthy of representing the Bierzo region at the national and international levels. Its symbol was the Palace of Villafranca built in the 18th century, depicted on the labels of the company's wines. Its stone walls preserve the rich experience of the Lords of Argan, who from ancient times produced wines that enjoyed great authority at the royal houses of Asturias, Leon and Galicia.
The key period of the distillery was 1970-80, when Bierzo wines entered foreign markets, becoming direct competitors to the already famous wines of Rioja and Jerez. Palacio de Arganza was also one of the first companies to acquire its own vineyards in Cuba, appreciating their potential. The new modern plant made it possible to produce up to 34 million liters of wine per year. The assortment of the company is made up of wines for every taste and wealth, with which it conquers the markets of the USA, Mexico, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark. The pearls of her collection are old vintage wines, some of which date back to 1948, which testify to the rich history of the Palacio de Arganza.
