Tart, full-bodied wine "Bagratuni" Reserve is made of local autochthonous grapes Areni Noir. Grapes are grown on their own plots of Maran, occupying 15 hectares of stony clay and sandy soil near Aghavnadzor village. The vineyard is located at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level and has a south-eastern exposure. The yield of the vineyard is limited to 20-30 quintals per hectare. Areni Noir is harvested by hand and transported to the winery in small wooden boxes. After crushing the fruit gently carried fermentation takes 2-3 weeks. Then the wine is aged for about six months, first in a new, and then 1-4 years in barrels previously used rigid, scented oak Artsakh.
"Bagratuni" reserve is the gold medal received at the XVII International competition of wines and spirits in Moscow in 2013, and the bronze medal of the prestigious international competition "Decanter World Wine Award" in 2014.
The origins of the winery "Maran" go into the middle of the XIX century, it was then Aryutyun son of Sarkis and Maran, defeated in his native village Artabuynk beautiful vineyard and named it in honor of his mother. Since then, the whole race was called Maranents and winery, modern history is underway since 1991 - "Maran". Today, agriculture is one of three leaders in the production of wine in the legendary Vayots Dzor region, which is historically the center of the wine industry in Armenia. Vineyards company occupy 15 hectares.
In 1996, the winery "Maran", together with French partners, has launched a new program based on a combination of age-old national traditions of Armenian winemaking with French technology. This led to the birth of the new fine wines that are already highly appreciated by specialists of many competitions. In 2002 the company expanded its range by launching the production of pomegranate wine, and later - the fruity vodka "Bark" (hawthorn, apricot and dogwood).
