The secret recipe Amaro Lucano was born in 1894 and has since been passed down from generation to generation as the greatest value. It includes more than 30 herbs, spices and other plant components. They undergo maceration in alcohol, wine or mixed with sugar syrup. In order for the mixture to become perfect, it is placed in large tanks, insulating from moisture and sunlight for 3-4 months. During this time, a heavy precipitate falls, and lighter fractions rise to the surface. Only the heart of the extract can form Amaro Lucano . Next, pure water, alcohol and caramel are added to it. Its use in cocktails is widely used in American bars. Today, Amaro Lucano continues to win admirers on different continents.
Quality, knowledge, traditions and new ideas make Lucano 1894 one of the largest Italian producers of alcoholic beverages. Its history goes back to the 19th century when, in 1894, Pasquale Vienna, a pastry chef and a passionate herbalist, created an amazing liquor that became the hallmark of his family for a century to come. Making it by hand in small quantities, he became the official supplier of the royal family of the House of Savoy. For this, he was awarded the title of Cavalliero, which was equated with a knightly rank.
Having slowed down during the Second World War, the business received a new impetus for development from the moment two sons of Pasquale came to management: Leonardo and Giuseppe. Thanks to their work and dedication, small production began to increase and in 10-15 years it grew to more than 100 thousand liters per year. This volume was provided by the new plant in Pisticci.
Since the 70s of the 20th century, the company Lucano 1894 began to expand actively, and promotional activities made it possible to enter international markets. The current owners, the fourth generation of the Pasquale Vienna family, work with the same passion and devotion as their predecessors, while remaining faithful to the values and ideals of the founder of the dynasty.
