The Larsen brand was founded by the Norwegian Jens Rydar Larsen in 1926. He came to France in 1919, having settled in the city of Cognac, married a Frenchwoman and went into the alcohol business. Larsen bought Joseph Gautier Cognac Factory and created his own brand of brandy. The business developed through the sale of cognac in the Scandinavian countries, and today the Larsen brand is known in all major countries of the world. Now the company is managed by the grandchildren of the founder of the company and is part of a large corporation Altia Group .
Cognac company Larsen is engaged only in the processing and aging of brandy spirits, which are purchased from the distilleries of the wine regions of Grand Champagne, Petit Champagne, Borderi and Fan Bois. The range of Larsen cognacs is quite wide and is constantly updated. Cognacs are especially appreciated in the crystal decanters "Drakar", which are created in the form of an ancient Viking ship. For three generations, the Larsen family has created a stock of very old cognacs aged in Limousin oak barrels. Now the company can offer cognacs of long exposure, some of them have more than a century ago.
In 1888, a group of engineers created Altia in the Finnish city of Rajamäki. She was engaged in the production of pressed yeast, vinegar and alcohols. In 1919, after Finland became independent, the “Ban Act” was passed and the plant became state-owned. After the repeal of the law in 1932, Oy Alkoholiliike Ab was established, which was engaged in the production of legalized alcoholic beverages. From 1969 to 1995, the company operated under the name Oy Alko AB, having monopoly rights to the production of alcoholic beverages in Finland. And in 1995, Finland entered the European Economic Space (EEA) and the monopoly associated with foreign trade was abolished. Alko Ltd was divided into three independent subsidiaries, and the main company became known as the Altia Group .
