Interesting Facts
"Inferno" - wine with a strong character, an aromatic fullness and firm structure, rigor and tannins which are balanced with a soft texture. The name of the wine, probably comes from the unique conditions of the terroir in which the grapes are grown varieties Nebbiolo. The vineyards are located on a small terrace in the rocky gorges, one of the most remote areas of the Valtellina Superiore. Another feature is the very high temperatures in summer. Sandy loam soils with low humus content is favorable for grapes with strong aroma and, in the future, wine with good structure, which only strengthens the hold for 18-24 months in oak barrels. "Inferno" can be stored 8-10 years. Before use, we recommend opening the bottle or decanting for 2 hours.
Producer's description
La Madonnina is a small boutique winery from the Bolgeri region, which owns an old farmhouse, a valuable vineyard, olive grove and a large orchard. All these treasures are hidden from prying eyes by the magnificent forest of Macchia del Bruccato. In total, the estate owns 47 hectares of land, of which 7 hectares are given for vineyards, on the western side protected by a section of the Guado al Tasso winery, owned by the Marquis of Antinori. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot are cultivated in the vineyards. The vines are planted with high density (about 10,000 vines / ha) with an average yield of one vine not more than 500 grams.
The wines of La Madonnina's farm , among which mostly supertuscan blends, reflect the terroir to the maximum and convey its magical atmosphere. Responsible for the vineyards and winemaking process in the economy became the famous and very experienced oenologist Riccardo Cotarella.
