Wine Keermont, Estate Reserve, 2014
Reviews of purchase Keermont, Estate Reserve, 2014
Wine rich ruby red color.
The taste of wine is extremely elegant, showing bright acidity and dusty, thin tannins. The silky start is enhanced by the soft tones of ripe blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and hints of chopped herbs, spices, cold stone and iodine, which remain in a long aftertaste.
The aroma of wine reveals complex interweaving shades of sandalwood, rose petals and cloves, ripe cherries, wild berries, local shrub finbos and dry land.
The wine goes well with stews with sauce, blue cheese.
Keermont, Estate Reserve - flagship red wine, which has been produced since 2007. Its complex blend is designed to demonstrate the nuances of the terroir and the features of the crop. Most sites are located on rich red clay, sandstone and granite soil and are surrounded by native vegetation. Small lots of grapes are specially selected depending on maturity and vinified separately. This process is carried out in the open, using only traditional methods. The wine was aged 22 months in French oak barrels (20% new), and then it was bottled manually without filtering on December 22, 2014. Bottles remain in the cellar for 12-24 months before release. The optimal period for consuming 2013 vintage is in 2017-2030.
Keermont Vineyards Distillery, along with its vineyards, is located near Stellenbosch in the beautiful valleys of South Africa. She got her name in honor of the old Keerweder farm, which was once located on these lands. The word "keerweder" means "blocked, limited", which indicates the features of the landscape, which did not allow the first settlers to pass through the valley.
The winery and vineyards are located in the shadow of the Guardian peak, due to which the sun after sunrise illuminates them a little later than in the rest of the region. This effect, combined with the high location of the vineyards, leads to very cool night and morning temperatures, contributing to the slow ripening and excellent phenolic maturity of the grapes.
Mark and Monica Wright acquired this land by buying Fleurfontein and Keerweder III farms in 2003. They combined them at Keermont Vineyards Estate. In 2005, the company began large-scale planting of vineyards, which today amount to 27 hectares. Keermont, under the guidance of an experienced winemaker, Alex Starei, strives to create wines that reflect the soul of their beautiful land and the character of each year, for which it uses chemical fertilizers only in extreme cases, and the wine does not filter or lighten. This creates their natural, harmonious wines that meet the stringent requirements for high-quality products.
