Gravel provides effective drainage and heat preservation from the sun, and clay accumulates water and delivers it to the roots of grapevines.
The main varieties grown in the Chateau Kirwan are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, which accounts for only 10% of the total harvest.
