Interesting Facts
"East India Madeira" Fine Dry - a powerful Madeira of the category "Fine Dry", which has a fresh, bright aroma and fine dry taste. The wine, whose name comes from the Portuguese island of Madeira, is made from grapes of the Tinta Negra variety and a small number of other traditional Portuguese grapes. When making Madeira, the fermentation process is interrupted by adding alcohol at the time when most of the sugar is already converted into alcohol. Thanks to this technique, the wine becomes very dry and acquires incredible durability. After fermentation, the wine ripens for at least two years in oak barrels. During this time, the wine can interact with the air (because of the open barrels), obtaining a unique color and a unique aroma. Then the dry wine is strengthened with a lot of alcohol. The bottle of Madeira depicts ships, in which Portuguese wine was sent to faraway countries in the 17th century.
