Interesting Facts

"Cuvee GC" is made ​​from grapes Sauvignon Blanc, collected for the most part in "Le Grand Chemarin" (GC) - one of the most famous vineyards in the village of Bui, as well as in neighboring areas with the same terroir and agronomic characteristics. Vineyards occupy the south-eastern slopes of the exposure covered stony, clay-limestone soil, known as "caillottes". The combination of this terroir and winemaking special methods to create a unique cuvee - elegant and with great finesse, intense fruity aroma and a full, complex flavor. The grapes for "Cuvee GC" compressed using pneumatic presses and immediately sent to the cold maceration for 48-72 hours. Then the grape cake carefully removed, the pure juice is adjusted to the proper temperature, and the yeast was added to ferment under controlled temperature for a few weeks, to impart the flavor complexity of the wine most. After aging on the lees of wine goes cold stabilized, filtered and bottled in the cellars of the estate.

Family Roger comes from an old family of winemakers from the village of Bue. The first mention of them refers to the beginning of the XVII century. Jean-Max Roger had inherited from his parents in the early 1970s, the size of the vineyard of four hectares. Starting with a small patch, Jean-Max gradually expanded its vineyards. Today, the winery Jean-Max Roger owns 26 hectares in Sancerre AOC along the Loire River, as well as household owns 5 hectares of vineyards located in Menethil Salon AOC. Jean-Max Roger grows two grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc for white wines and Pinot Noir for red and pink. As a merchant, the winery is Roger wines from Pouilly-Fumé region, located in front of Sancerre on the left bank of the Loire. Since 2004, Jean-Max is assisted by two of his three sons - Etienne and Thibault, get rich wine experience in France and abroad. His third son, Xavier, is also involved in winemaking in the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
