Jean Loron, Chateauneuf-du-Pape - red dry wine from Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, located in the Rhone Valley, in the department of Vaucluse. The soil of the appellation is sandy-gravel, with admixtures of limestone and clay, which are optimal for growing grapes. The wine of Châteauneuf-du-Pape is subdued by the richness and good structure of the long fruit taste and fragrant aroma with nuances of cherry, chocolate and spices. It is well combined with dishes from meat, game and smoked meat.
Producer's description
The company Jean Loron is one of the oldest and largest wineries in France. The roots of its history go back to 1711. Young Jean Loron decided to depart from the traditions of his ancestors who for years grew vegetables in a small settlement of Shen. He decided to link his fate with the vine and laid the vineyards on the steep slopes of the Beaujolais hills.
For years Jean Loron honed his skills, his wines became more and more popular, and vineyards covered ever larger areas in different regions of France. Having reached the elderly, Jean handed over the management of the company to his son, so began the family wine tradition at the house of Jean Loron. The great-grandson of Jean-Jean-Marie - in 1821 expanding the business, establishing relations with the leading trading houses of that time.
In 1900, the products of Jean Loron first exhibited in the prestigious wine store "Nicolas" in Paris. In 1945, the partnership with the house of Luis Jadot was formed. In 1968, the first bottle of wine was produced from the company's new plant in Pontanevo. In 1978, the management company takes Javier Barbe, representative of the 8th generation of the family Lauron. Since 2016, the main responsibilities for the production of wine under the brand Jean Loron are assigned to Philippe Bardet.
