The history of Vina Haras de Pirque began as a joint venture between Eduardo Matte and the world-famous winemaker Marquis Antinori. Matte himself is a successful businessman, an avid horseman, who was once recognized as the best horse breeder in South America. When Chilean red wines began to become world-famous in the 90s of the last century, Matte became interested in a promising piece of land in the northwest of the Pirque region in the Maipo Valley. This area is unique due to its favorable climate.
Eduardo Matte founded the Vina Haras de Pirque estate with the goal of creating a first-class wine company and using the proceeds from the sale of wine to modernize the oldest horse breeding farm, which was founded in 1882. That is why on the label of the Equus wines we can see an image of one of the thoroughbred racehorses, which has won many victories in competitions around the world. It is interesting that even the building of the Vina Haras de Pirque winery has the shape of a horseshoe! Thus, thanks to E. Matte's love for horses and his passion for equestrian sports, the world received amazing wines that combine high quality and a very reasonable price.
