During his life, Hans Haan (Hans Hahn) has visited many countries of the world. His first long trip he made to the age of 15, when his native Rotterdam went to live with his father in Australia. More than 20 years, Hans worked in the Hong Kong Aviation Company. During the years of his life, visiting many parts of the world, he was looking for a place to settle down and be able to carry out a cherished dream - to start producing their own wine. His choice, he stopped at the Barossa Valley - the best in the South Australian wine region. It was here in 1995, Hans Hahn and his wife France bought 18 hectares of vineyards that were planted back in the mid-19th century. Title economy "Hanenhof" (Hanenhof) recalls the origin of Hans and translated from the Dutch language as "cock-estate". It is therefore not surprising that the image of the cock became a symbol of the winery and is present in all wines Haan family.
Barossa Valley is characterized by splendid soil and climatic conditions for the cultivation of grapes. Clearly defined seasons, the dry hot climate and the availability of well-drained sandy loam soils infertile, provide an opportunity to grow Bordeaux and Rhone varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Semillon, Shiraz and Viognier.
His first crop of spouses gathered in 1996, and a year later they released the wine Merlot Prestige, has received the 1998 gold medal Sydney International Wine Competition.
