Interesting Facts
"Herencia Altes" l'Estel, Terra Alta DO is a dry red wine made from Syrah, Garnacha and Carignano grapes grown in the company's own vineyards. Soils - loamy with limestone and sandy impurities. The average age of the vines is 60 years. Harvested by hand in boxes of 18 kg, the berries are still sorted in the field. Then the berries are cooled to 3-5 ° C during the day. Cold maceration lasts about 5 days, and fermentation is carried out for 10-15 days at a controlled temperature of 23-26 ºC. Part of the wine fills in large oak barrels with a volume of 1200 l, and the rest during malolactic fermentation is in 300 liter barriques. After fermentation, the wine is aged in these barrels for another 12 months. Before bottling the wine is filtered.
"Herencia Altes" - a new winery company De Haan Altes, which focuses on the production of organic wines. The company is actively involved in renewable energy sources, thermal insolation and recycling of rainwater - the methods and means to be friendly in the environment, respecting the wealth and purity of nature.
Producer's description
Joan Àngel Lliberia founded Edetaria in 2003 after training as an agronomist and master of business administration in the wine sector in the OIV (International Office de la Vigne du Du Vin). Remembering his childhood, he decided to return to the origins and continue the work of the grandfather-oenologist, Llorenz, and his parents-winemakers, Pepita and Angel.
The winery produces authentic wines from local grapes, trying to maximize the potential and character of the local terroir. The total area of vineyards is 60 hectares, vines grow on them, the age of which varies from 25 to 60 years. The company is certified by CCPAE.
