Wine "Don Aurelio" Gran Reserva, Valdepenas DO
Reviews of purchase "Don Aurelio" Gran Reserva, Valdepenas DO
Wine of deep dark red color with pomegranate and brown overflows.
The taste of the wine is full, velvety and well structured. Delicate shades of forest berries, plums and dried fruits are interwoven with intense notes of pepper, cloves, chocolate, caramel and toast. Beautiful tannins and pleasant freshness adorn a long aftertaste.
Spicy notes of black pepper, cloves and nutmeg in the aroma of wine stand out well against the background of balsamic and vanilla-coffee tones.
The wine is perfectly combined with steak, ham, hard cheeses, game and various meat dishes, as well as legumes, vegetables, mushrooms, risotto and pizza.
"Don Aurelio" Gran Reserva is made from selected grapes of Tempranillo, grown at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. Complex stony soils with a high calcium content have the ability to maintain the necessary moisture level, which is very necessary in a hot Spanish climate, where there are about 2500 hours of scorching sun per year. The grapes are harvested by hand and, after prolonged maceration and fermentation, the resulting wine material is aged in French oak barrels for at least 60 months. "Don Aurelio" Gran Reserva has the silver medal of the contest "Vinalies Internationales, 2015". Wine requires decantation.
"Don Aurelio" is the most famous brand of the company Navarro Lopez. The winery is located in the famous Spanish region of Valdepenas and is surrounded by numerous vineyards. Thanks to the close neighborhood with the production, the grapes are immediately taken to the factory, where they immediately start making wine. Its turnover is about 14 million bottles.
The range "Don Aurelio" offers young varietal wines (Tempranillo, Tempranillo Rosado, Verdejo, Syra, Garnacha and Merlot) and aged (Barrika, Kriantsa, Reserve and Grand Reserve). Many of them were awarded at various prestigious national and international wine contests, such as "Mundus Vini" and "Vinalies Internationales".
The company Navarro Lopez was founded in 1904 as a modest family winery Don Juan Sanchez Megia. The original winery still preserved in the city Valdepenas. In 2001, the factory was moved from Valdepenas to its current location near the motorway Autovia del Sur, a unique place in the heart of the vineyard, thus highlighting a clear commitment Navarro Doroteo Donado to environmental factors. Since 2002, Navarro Lopez begins to produce wine "Tierra de Castilla". To further expand the company's wine series were acquired vineyards located in the areas of Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Rueda.
In 2010, the company acquired one of the cult wineries of Rioja - Bodegas Valoria.
