Interesting Facts
Domaine de la Cote, Cotes du Rhone Villages "Valreas" AOC - an exquisite red wine created from Grenache and Syrah grapes grown in the Cotes du Rhone region near the village of Valreas on clay-stony soil. These vineyards once belonged to the general of the French army, Napoleon Bonaparte. The wine label shows a portrait of Napoleon, as Valreas is one of 20 villages that are allowed to mention this fact when making wine. The grapes peeled from the stems are pressed and placed in steel tanks for 15-20 days with a temperature control of 27-30 ° C. The wine is aged in concrete vats for 8 months.
Vintage 2017 won the gold medal at "Gilbert & Gaillard".
Founded in 1925, Cellier des Princes is the only producer group in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region. It was then, faced with a serious economic crisis, that several winemakers decided to team up and created the Cave Cooperative Courthezon. This has brought tangible results: the production, range and quality of wines have increased significantly. In 1960, with the emergence of zones controlled by origin, the association changed its name and became known as the Sellier de Prance, becoming the largest producer of the name Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Today the group is represented by more than two hundred manufacturers. As small farm owners, they work together to pursue common interests in grape growing, winemaking, livestock production, management and marketing. In a cooperative, everyone remains a specialist in their profession, but works for a common goal.
The main wealth of the Sellier de Prance is the variety of its vineyards, where many ancient grape varieties are grown, the main of which are Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Here they acquire their own character, which makes their wines recognizable among many other wines.
Currently, the Sellier de Prance cooperative is part of the large company Marques & Coop .
Producer's description
12 co-operative wineries are today the community of Marques & Coop , which aims to promote its best wines among foreign consumers.
The process of winemaking requires humility, attention to detail and the ability to overcome various difficulties. Through the combination of minds and different opinions, the group always finds the necessary solution in all spheres of its activity. Experienced winemakers relay the baton to their successors, who share a common goal and work hard to achieve it. The days passed when there was a "one in the field warrior": now the exchange of knowledge is a necessity dictated by time. The group is always better than one, though the most ingenious, person. Combining ideas and involving many people in finding solutions gives more guarantees in achieving results than inspiration or intuition of one person.
