"Shoffit becomes one of the newest stars of Alsace" - so wrote Robert Parker in the magazine "Wine Advocate" a brilliant winemaker Bernard Shoffite, had inherited from his father - Robert Shoffita - estate Domaine Schoffit. Robert owned 10 hectares of vineyards located in Hart, near the town of Colmar in Alsace. Historically, this part of the region has always been famous for its agricultural farms. On this beautiful site with alluvial soils planted with old vines, whose average age is 60 to 80 years. But Bernard did not stop his father and in 1986 embarked on an ambitious program - to maintain and expand the Domain. So you purchased a plot size of 6.5 hectares to the rank of de Tang around the Clos St. Theobald.
Rango de Tan - the southernmost of the vineyards of Alsace, covering an area of 18.8 hectares and leading its history since the XII century. Rango de Tang characterized by volcanic soils with low clay content (15%), which is beneficial to the quality of grapes, and its exceptional exposure allows the grapes to ripen slowly, until November, and achieve a very high degree of concentration. Today Rangen de Thann is on a par with such famous vineyards as Montrachet and Chambertin. Later, Bernard Shoffit bought another plot - a Grand Cru Sommerberg, granite soil which creates great prospects for the development of Riesling. Grand Cru wines produced Domain Shoffit - it is certainly world-class wines. They are always marked by a rich flavor, intensity, great concentration, perfect acidity and body combine with the fullness of pure expression of the variety and character of the terroir.
