The family business was founded Domaine Leflaive in 1717 by Claude Leflaive in a small area of Puligny-Montrachet. Inherited the company switched Joseph Leflaive (1870-1953), who was a naval engineer. In 1905, most of the vineyards of Burgundy affected by phylloxera epidemic and were put up for sale.
