Interesting Facts
Red wine Meursault "Clos de Mazeray" from Domaine Jacques Prieur is made from Pinot Noir grown in the vineyard, which is a private monopoly economy. The vineyard is surrounded by an old stone wall, located on the outskirts of the village of Meursault on the site of an ancient river bed on the clay-limestone soil. The vineyard was created by the hands of monks from the monastery of Citeaux, located nearby. Since ancient times, are produced excellent red and white wines.
For the manufacture of wine Meursault "Clos de Mazere" the grapes are harvested by hand, then manually berries are moving and are separated from the ridges. The fermentation lasts for about 20 days in an open wooden vats with controlled temperature. During the active phase of alcoholic fermentation mass 2 times a day mixed. The wine undergoes a secondary malolactic fermentation and then aged for 17 months in oak barrels, 30% of which - the new, and then bottled in traditional Burgundy bottle type "sommelier". The wine is ready to drink, and can be stored for 7-8 years after bottling.
Weather conditions in 2012 demonstrated how they determine future harvest. Cold winter and spring frosts, large temperature fluctuations and severe storms, mold and mildew on grape shoots made 2012 the most difficult for winemakers in France over the past decade. Neobilnye flowering led to unusually low yields. However, due to several warm summer berries at the time of the collection reached the desired degree of maturity. The first tasting showed that Meursault wine "Clos de Mazere" Rouge 2012 - sredneteloe, with a refreshing fruity taste with good tannins.
History of Domain Jacques Priёr (Domaine Jacques Prieur), based in the heart of Meursault, originated in 1898. "You can never fully own wine estate may only be the custodian of the values and traditions for transmission to future generations" - this quote particularly true of Jacques Priёra and history Domain whose wine and family traditions are a perfect illustration of the Burgundian character.

Domain Jacques Priёr owns vineyards in 22 appellasonah, including the most legendary in the Côte d'Or. This is the only domain in Burgundy, who owns vines in each of the five prestigious vineyards: Chambertin, Myusini, Clos Vougeot, Corton-Charlemagne and Montrachet. However, even the most delightful terroir - nothing without the expertise and passion of man. From the beginning, the family of Jacques Priёra provide the best care and attention in order to preserve the vineyards of the soil and create ideal conditions for vines. All the vineyards are processed in accordance with the principles of organic farming. Grapes from each plot vinified separately to preserve all of the unique characteristics. Domain is a highly respected winemaker Nadine Gyublen, received in 1997 the title of "Winemaker of the Year" from the "Revue du Vin de France".
Martin Priёr determines the winery philosophy as follows: "... The quality of wine depends largely on the quality of grapes: only ripe and healthy berries can have a truly great wine. ... Last time we practice a method called" viticulture raisonnee "(reasonable viticulture) which, in conjunction with the biodynamic method has allowed us to achieve an optimal balance between the produced wines and grapes are grown.
