Interesting Facts
Wine Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, 2012 from Domaine Jacques Prieur is made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the vineyard class Premiers Crus on rich limestone soils.
Weather conditions in 2012 demonstrated how they determine future harvest. Cold winter and spring frosts, large temperature fluctuations and severe storms, mold and mildew on grape shoots made 2012 the most difficult for winemakers in France over the past decade. Neobilnye flowering led to unusually low yields. However, due to several warm summer berries at the time of the collection reached the desired degree of maturity. Pinot Noir is harvested by hand and separated from the ridges. Fermentation for 19 days held in wooden vats with access of oxygen and controlled temperature, with stirring mash half-board everyday. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures in new oak barrels for 19 months. Strict and complex in their youth, wine Gevrey-Chambertin Premiers Crus can mature in the bottle for another 10 years, getting absolutely wonderful complex and multifaceted flavor and aroma.
