Ober youth spent in the United States, where he met his wife Pamela. At first, he studied literature and law, and later - worked for a company dealing with import of Burgundy wines. Not wanting to live and work in the same place, Aubert and Pamela have been looking for a quiet corner. So they were in town Buzeron. Struck by the quality of grapes grown there Aliquot, Ober decided to settle in Buzerone. At first, his possessions were very small - about 8 hectares. Ober began for the production of wine from their own grapes. Remoteness Buzerona Aubert allowed to engage in winemaking own pleasure, without worrying about the maintenance of international reputation. The first vintage of excellent wine was ready in 1973.
Aubert de Ville chose the path that is different from most of the wine of Burgundy. He started growing grapes Aliquot - more precisely, the "golden Aliquot" (Aligote doree). The fact that Burgundy winemakers tend to Aliquot treated with disdain, considering it suitable only for a cheap table wine. Quite popular in the past, aliquot was subsequently almost completely supplanted Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The reason for that - which took place in the middle of the XIX century death of grape phylloxera, to which the aliquot has been extremely unstable. Impressed achieved de Villena results, neighboring farms interested in this grape variety, and today is the only Buzeron appellations of Burgundy, specializing exclusively in Aliquot Dore.

To take off some of the load, he decides to pass the post of Managing Domain de Ville to his nephew - Pierre de Benoist, who comes from a family of winemakers, owning a winery Domaine du Nozay in Sancerre. Although Pierre spent his childhood in the vineyards and wineries, he had no desire to have a family affair. Instead, Pierre received a law degree and has long lived and worked in Paris. However, he said, he was the son of a winemaker, and this activity was in his blood. Therefore, when Aubert in 2000 asked him to lead Domaine de Villa, Pierre agreed. He greatly expanded the territory of the estate, buying plots in the neighboring villages Ruyi and Mercury. In addition to the basic grades - Aliquot - the vineyards economy began to grow Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Today, Pierre manages entrusted to him wine house, staying true to the traditions of quality laid down by Aubert de Villena.
