Producer's description
Coviñas is the leading winery in the Utel-Requen region, in which it owns more than 41% of the vineyards. The Covinjas Cooperative was created in 1965 in the Valencian city of Requena, when ten cooperatives from this region got together and created a single group to improve their beverages and offer the best quality on the market. At the beginning of its activities, the company produced not only wines, but also various spirits, and only in 2003, Covinhas focused exclusively on the production of still wines. In 2007, Coviñas received the first prize at “Conselleria d'Agricultura, Pesca i Alimentació” for its work and efforts to improve quality. A year later, in 2008, the Covinhas cooperative launched a factory for the manufacture of cava and began the production of this type of sparkling wines, prepared according to the traditional method established by the rules DO Cava.
In the last decade, the Covinhas group has developed an expansion project, thanks to which it has quadrupled its business performance. During this time, she continued to improve her capabilities, acquiring advanced technologies, building a new warehouse and other necessary production facilities. The range of wines has also been significantly expanded, exclusive projects and limited editions of beverages have been developed, trying to adapt to the tastes and needs of customers. In 2018, Coviñas achieved a record number of awards at both national and international competitions, which confirms its commitment to quality. During 2018, the company received a total of 40 medals, more than half of which are gold. Currently, Coviñas sells more than 12 million bottles of wine a year and exports its products to thirty countries around the world.
