Wine Cobertizo, Mencia Joven, Beirzo DO, 2016
Reviews of purchase Cobertizo, Mencia Joven, Beirzo DO, 2016
The wine is a pale ruby color.
In the juicy, refreshing taste of the wine there are tones of red berries, sour cherries and pomegranate, which are complemented by nuances of chocolate and earthy notes in a harmonious finish.
The bright, complex aroma of the wine reveals in a glass notes of cherry, blueberry, licorice and crushed gravel.
Wine will be the perfect complement to pasta, sausages, meat snacks and stews.
Dry red wine Cobertizo, Mencia Joven, Beirzo DO is made from grapes from the Mansia variety grown in the organic vineyards of the Bierzo region, where the average age of the vines is 60 years and only manual labor is used. After harvesting, a vertical press is used to pressure the grapes. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks without the addition of artificial yeast cultures. The wine is slightly filtered and bottled with a minimum amount of sulfites. Wine will be the perfect complement to pasta, sausages, meat snacks and stews.
Cobertizo's vineyards are historically owned by the family of the current winemaker’s wife, Tony Quiroga. Here, grapes of exceptional quality were grown, from which wort was produced and sold to winemakers. Everything changed with the arrival of Tony, who founded the Cobertizo winery and bought several hectares of vineyards. Today, the farm owns 17 hectares of vineyards, spread between three towns - Villafranca del Bierzo, Kakabelos and Argansa. Godello and Mansia varieties traditional for Bierzo are mainly grown. All vineyards of the farm are organic, and the minimum amount of sulfite is used in the cellars.
The name Cobertizo translates as "shed" - it was in it that the grape must was originally made. Now the winery is equipped with modern equipment, vinification is carried out in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, and aging is carried out in French oak barrels.
