Chateau Merlet is located in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mer. In 1978 the castle was purchased by the family Bonyur (Bonhur), 4 and earlier generation winemaking families succeeded each other as its hosts. Chateau Merlot has a vineyard area of 48 hectares, which has an excellent location: at the highest point of the Gironde - at an altitude of 134 meters above sea level, in the prestigious terroir, which produces red and white wines of the highest quality. The soils are clay-calcareous and wines that are born to them - nice, soft and juicy. The average age of the vines is 28 years. In the year Château Merle produces 290 000 bottles. At the end of vinification all wines undergo strict selection, and eventually bottled only the best vintages.
Chateau Merle is one of the 15 castles belonging to the house wine Cordier, which was founded in 1886 and today is one of the largest producers of top quality wines in Bordeaux. A distinctive feature vintage Cordier is the observance of a balance between traditional and innovative methods of winemaking. Much attention is paid to improving the quality of the wine through scientific research conducted in conjunction with the Institute of oenological Bordeaux.
