Wine beautiful ruby color with purple tint
Flexible, rounded taste of the wine reveals notes of ripe fruit and silky tannins. The finish is long and pleasant.
The aroma of wine there are tones of red and black berries: raspberries, blackberries, cherries and notes of sweet spices and coffee.
The wine goes well with red meat, lamb, game, mature cheeses.
Chateau Maucaillou, 2009 - very harmonious, sensual red wine with expressive fruit aroma and generous rounded taste. The wine can be consumed now, and can be stored for 10-12 years.
Name "Maucaillou" means "bad stones." Medieval farmers consider this land, rich in gravel, of little use for the cultivation of grain, but it is perfect for the growth of the vine.
In 1875, George. Petit Laroche cellars and warehouses built in Moulis, he also belonged to the magnificent castle Maucaillou - a wedding gift to his wife. Petit Laroche united all land Maucaillou and got a vineyard area of three acres.
In the early twentieth century, in 1929, one of the owners of Chateau became family Dourthe. Roger Dourthe contributed to the expansion of vineyards Chateau Mokayu, his son Philip in 1991, continued his father's work by buying all the shares of the partners of the castle, which later passed on to his three children. Today, the castle belongs Maucaillou over sixty acres of vineyards on gravelly, favorable for the development of vines soils. In the vineyards grow 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot.
